Scooters and Smaller-capacity motorcycles (up to around 150cc) have special needs when it comes to security. Besides being the most-stolen sector of PTW (Powered two Wheelers) they also have the smallest batteries of all. This brings serious concerns to the user, and for us as Security designers/manufacturers.
One of the main concerns is current drain. Most alarms from the budget section are very 'thirsty' in electrical terms. 15mA is not uncommon in this sector of the market (For comparison our CAT1.1 draws only 1.8mA; and Thatcham specifications will only allow a maximum draw of 5mA)
The 1020 and Scooter alarms both have a draw in the order of 5mA.
The Scooter Immobiliser has a current drawof 0mA - yes, zero.
