Acumen Electronics has developed it's market leading DG8 Gear Indicator into one with a Liquid Crystal Display. Liquid Crystal has some advantages over LED's, lower current drain being one of them; though the main advantage is that the display won't "wash-out" in bright sunshine. The disadvantage with LCD's is they need illumination for night time. Acumen has arranged 5 different coloured back lights in this one unit and also supplied it with 5 different coloured fascias (Yellow, Red, Blue, Green and Anthracite) so you can customise it to match the colour of the bike, or dash lights.
